Can't load software

I have some software on floppy disks. Since most computers today do not have a floppy drive I tried to copy the software to CD's. When I went to try and load it to my other computer, it wouldn't load. It came up with an error that said windows couldn't read the file. When I loaded it from the floppy's on my other computer, it loaded no problem. Both computer have the same OS. (Windows XP). So what do I need to do in order for it to load? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

well sometimes the apps on floppies need to write to the disk, which they can not do on the CD. Try copying it to your hard drive then run the app.

well make sure that any files on the floppy do not have the "hidden" attribute flagged, and perhaps you should make an image of it instead of copying it, then burn that image to cd or copy it to a thumb drive, or better yet use an app like alcohol120 or daemonTools to mount the image as a floppy drive and run it that way

Well as the screen name implies, I'm pretty much a moron when it comes to computers. LOL LOL So how do I check for this and what do I do if it has it?

open up the floppy go to view selector folder options, then make sure it is selected to show all files including hidden files

The proble is with 100% compatibility of your system BIOS with the BIOS
of first IBM PC. I started using PCs from DOS days onwards. Nearly 40%
of computers could not read my floppies. That problem still exists.

Since the floppies are readable in your system, copy all of them into
different folders. Then write all those files on to a CD. The CD is compatible
in most of the sysems, even though it is not readable in a few drives.
