Hey I have a Sony Vaio FZ469E Laptop with a 8400m gt video card in it and I can't seem to OC it. I've tried using Rivatuner and MSI Afterburner and everytime I change the clock/memory speeds it defaults back to the stock clocks as soon as I apply it. Has anyone else had a similar issue and is there a way to bypass this?

Your BIOS is probably locked, plus laptops aren't meant to be overclocked, as the temps can become to much if you do. Laptops are designed in a specific way for heat to be properly dissipated, and it can be to much of a restraint on the power as overclocking requires more power to be drawn.

Like mentioned,You can overclock some laptops but why people do it is beyond me because they're just not meant to be overclocked!

Id stick to gaming on your rig in sig :)

Yea I found that the bios on sony vaio's are locked so thats whats preventing it. I do most of my gaming on the rig in my sig but occasionally want to use my laptop to play a little sc2. Ah well guess i gotta deal with the crappy settings

And I read that some people were able to OC the 8400m gt without much heat increase so I thought id'e give it a try, worth a shot

Yeah, pretty much any OEM computer will have a locked BIOS, for one reason or another. Laptops aren't really meant for gaming anyways unless your prepared to shell out big bucks. (Ahem, Alienware), and there is no headroom for upgrades. IMO the only thing laptops are good for are on the go things.
