Can't off load photos with flash drive??

Hi, I'm trying to off load a bunch of photos stored on my old computer. The computer is very slow and takes about 20 min. just to boot up. When I insert the flash drive into the USB port, the computer does not recognize it and hence, I cannot tranfer the photos to the flash drive.

Does anyone know how to fix this or a better way to get the photos off my old computer?
