Can't open my excel document

My computer died on me so had to have it sorted.
Having this done I lost my microsoft word doc. and excel package which I had installed previously. Now i can't open these files in my documents.
I still have the disc but I vaguely remember seeing that I could only install it three times. If this is true. I've done that.
Can I open these files somehow?
Or can I free download the package I had installed which is 2002 student version.
I would be grateful if someone with the know how could advise as I am not up on computer know how or jargon.

You should have no problem re-installing Office, you may just have to call to activate it. If you can't, download OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org, it's a free office suite that will open your Word and Excel documents.
