Can't play HDV from hard-drive

I've just downloaded some HD samples from the Canon website. I first save them to my Hardrive, then try to play them with the recommended Quicktime 7 player. As soon as I press play, the video sticks and jumps around then shuts the player down. If I save the video to a memory stick, and play it from there I have no trouble, it plays silky smooth. My PC is only a few weeks old, and is a pretty good spec. The video plays back fine on my laptop when played from the hardrive, both are running Vista home premium.

Any advice welcome,

When playing from the Hardrive it comes up with ' Buffer Overun Detected '

Its a quicktime file format. The thing is, why does it play ok from a memory stick but not the hardrive.

it's probably fragmented on your hard drive

and then when you transferred it to the card, it copied it linearly

Or you need to update the Quicktime files/drivers/codecs. Just go to the Apple website and download the latest version.

maybe because the memory stick has a built-in codec that the comp don't.
im not really sure either...
