HELP!!

I have an E-Machine T3958 with the "dual layer burning 8.5 gig max capacity" dvd rw/cd rw drive. When I put a blank recordable DVD into the drive the information in "My Computer" changes from DVD-RW (E: to CD DRIVE (E: And then gives me an error message and says it can't record.
What am I doing wrong, How do I record onto a DVD?

Do you have it installed correctly? What are you trying to record? IS the DVD Player Dirty or maybe what you are trying to burn mustt me on a CD RW instead of A DVD RW

Hi, Thanks for replying,
The drive is built in and is a cdr/w abd dvd r/w combo. The machine is less than six months old. The disc I'm using is a blank TDK DVD-R. I am trying to copy text and photo files.

Hi,
I guess I'm using whatever came with the computer. I can pop in a CD and and burn it okay, but when I put in a DVD it reverts back to CD mode.

I just went digging around in "ALL PROGRAMS" and found a DVD burning program called NERO. Tried it out and it worked great!! If you hadn't responded I would have never thought to look for a program. THANKS!!!

glad you got it working ... I'm guessing the program you were using was XP Imapi burning program .. it's only for cds. I've actually disabled it.
