I have two computers on homegroup but I can't see the data drives on one of them. I have both data drives shared and when I go to network I can see the computer and when I open it up all it shows me is Pinter and shared docs.
Did you just set this up and its not working? Or has did you set this up a long time ago and you just ran into this problem?
A long time ago and thought I would fix this problem
Is the drive and internal or external to the computer? Or is the hard drive connected to your router?
What difference would that make. The drives or connected to the computer and the computer is connected to the router
I would try powering everything down then a few minutes later turn it all back on. Sometimes the handshake between devices gets messed up
I've tried that QUOTE]
Sounds like a shared permissions issue. Do you have the permissions set up correctly for each user?
I go to Computer - Network and I see all the computers. From one computer I can access all data on both computers but from the other computer I can only access my own stuff but when I try and access the other computer I get a Windows Secuity which says I have to enter a password. I have the right user name and I've tried Security key, Passphrase, Homegroup key, D-Link Router password so I wonder what I'm doing wrong and how to fine my password. I can't change anything because too many computer are on the network. any ideas?
Go to the computer you are trying to access.
Open Network and sharing center.
Change Advanced Sharing settings.
Turn OFF password protection.
