Can't send people messages on FaceBook.

I am trying to send someone a message on FaceBook that isn't on my friends list... it is a private money lender that I am asking for a loan...

I type the message in the box and it won't send... it says that we are "not connected."

Since when do you have to be on someone's friends list to send them a message?

You can set privacy settings so only friends can message you.
