Can't type password at login- help please!!

Alright, so I was resizing partitions the other day, moving space from my vista partition to my windows 7 and I remembered that the program (gparted) always screwed up the boot manager, so I had a vista install disk on standby to fix it. Got done resizing the partitions and restarted, lo and behold I got a "No operating system found". So I loaded up the vista disk, fixed it and now I get my two operating systems, "Vista Ultimate" and "Windows 7 Professional (recovered)". I load up windows 7 and it works fine until I get to the login screen. I can't type anything! I don't get it at all. I've tried loading up in safe mode, using last known good config. So basically I load up to the login screen and can't type in my password, which is obviously a problem.

I'm not really sure what else to do. The keyboard works fine on vista. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and its a PS2 keyboard. Also ran a check disk. I do have an old backup of windows 7, but I'm reluctant to use it as I've done quite a bit since then, so that would be last resort.

Thanks for any help in advance!

is it a true ps2 or is it usb plugged into an adapter?

does your num lock lights turn off and on if your press num lock?

Yes its a true ps2 and the num lock light is on, but I can't turn it on and off. If I unplug it the num lock light goes off and then I can't turn it back on.

interesting.... does your mouse work?

Yeah, works just fine. I figured I might temporarily get around it by enabling the on-screen keyboard through the features button at the bottom right on the login screen, but it "failed to start".

This may seem silly, but is the PS2 keyboard actually plugged into the PS2 "Keyboard" port? Not the Mouse port. Some systems are very picky with this.

Yep its plugged into the right one, has the keyboard symbol and its purple.

Thanks for the help guys, keep it commin!

You mentioned earlier that you unplugged and replugged the keyboard. Have you tried turning off the machine completely and rebooting since then? PS2 equipment does not usually play friendly with hot-plugging.

Yes I actually turned off the computer and unplugged for a few min, make sure everything was cleared out and would get re-recognized.

Edit: Since I'm on Vista right now and have access to the Windows 7 partition, would there be any way of disabling the request for a password? Not sure if this is breaking the rules..

Well, kinda glad this happened. Never fixed the problem, but it gave me the boost I needed to finally get rid of Vista and move completely on to Windows 7. Ended up reinstalling, everything works now.

Weird... Glad you were able to fix it, though. Enjoy Windows 7!

What do you mean as far as disabling the password request? For permissions to the Vita partition?
