i get this every time i try to use a disc. anyone know whats wrong, is it a missing driver? i'm completely lost.

Get rid of any and all passwords on your computer and be careful about any you add. Most of us are unnecessarily over security conscious and this may be the root of your problem.

the only password i have is to access the computer (to stop my brother getting in because he will change the settings). i have tried removing the password but this hasn't done anything. just remembered i downloaded a program yesterday which didnt appear when i told it to run the instalation and i think it was saved in a folder called 'temp' or something like that. has it removed something perhaps?

Clear you recent documents list and try again. Also download and run Ccleaner as doing one or both of these procedures should fix your issue.
