Can't Use DVD Player

I have a laptop with a DVD player...recently purchased it used. However, when I put in a DVD, it says that media player cannot play the DVD because my computer does not have a decoder on it. What does this mean? Please help!

You need to buy a program like WinDVD which comes with a decoder. Windows does not come with a DVD decoder installed so you must purchase it seperatly.

yeah download a programe off the internet windvd or powerdvd shoudnt be hard to find.

haha ... sorry, those change. But yea, Cliprex is a free player. I would try VideoLAN first.
