card or computer?

I have a Radeon 9600 and a few high performance games (bf2, black and white 2, gta san andreas, ect.) San andreas is the latest i got so far. when i play it, it randomly locks up. i hear the game stil playing sometimes but the video is frozen. This also happens in bf2 and black and white 2 has black sploches everywhere. I was wanting a radeon x1800. would this help with my problem?

The 9600 is AGP, and the x1800 is PCI-E.

The video card could be the problem, but before you buy a new one i would re-install windows and see if that solves your problem.

And what are the other specs on your computer?
