Case worth buying?

not to just shoot you down like that ^......um just a general rule that if the case comes with a power supply and the case is cheaper than about 100$ then the PSU is prolly crap.....trust me on this.....if theres on thing you dont want to cut back on its your power supply, you need a good, reliable power supply, think about it...........the power supply in one way or another has something to do with every part inside of your case....so if it shorts out theres a good chance that you may damage some components....go with antec, thermaltake, ultra, some national brand and as for the case.....

Really? I didn't know a weak PSU could damage my system if it breaks. Is that true? I figured it would just stop working and then I would have to purchase another one...someone clear me up on this.

Its not really the PSU being weak. Its more of it being built from poor quality components and when it goes it can create a power surge which can fry the components it's attached to. Someone else might be able to explain it better/more correctly, I'm not an electrical engineer :).

Yes it's true, in worst case scenario it could damage your hardware. But you also risk running into other problems with a cheap psu, such as instabillty issues or random reboots/shut downs.

Modern hardware needs a reliable power supply, I wouldn't trust the cheaper ones.

Well if the case you like because of the style then I would say yes. Its only $40 so you rip out the power supply and replace it if it's crap. I preffer higher quality aluminum cases but that's me.

Ok thanks for the warning, I will stay away from the cheap PSU + Case. I just thought I would try saving a few $, but if that puts my system at risk forget about it.

Just wanted to mention that you wont find a stylish case with a high quality psu for in the $40. price range anyway so buy it if you like the case and change the psu.

Yeah I think thats what I'm gonna do...I've come across a lot of cases for $40-50 that I like which come w/ a PSU. I'll just take that out a purchase a better one. Thanks guys.

Well knowing me I changed my mind again, and want to get a case w/o PSU and get the PSU separatley. Check this case for me, I know it is pretty cheap but it has great reviews, people's only complaint is that the airflow is not too good. Well take a look:

Case

and here is the PSU I would get:

i like the psu, very nice indeed. deja vu. as for the case, 2 minutes ago i wrote a reply for someone asking about the exact same case in a different topic only theres was green. so ill copy the thing over ;)

lmao, i know this is gonna be a stupid question but im a lil bit tired and i cant think too well atm. Why does it have 4 fan things on the inside at the front if the front of the case is solid . the air flow doesnt look too balanced to me, 2 fans at the side, and from what it looks like, a small fan at the back. better to get one with fans at the front and back. then if need be cut your own fan holes.

looks nice though

It looks good to me. I happen to be fan of Aspire cases. I have one my self but a much more expensive model then that one. Proberly you right to get a better powersupply but I have had good luck with aspire PSU. I have a 500watts aspire PSU that came with my case that been working great on my computer even with a geforce 6800ultra.

Well, I wouldn't mind saving another $50. Do you that PSU would be reliable? I wouldn't mind testing it, however my concern comes back to damaging the system if its crap.

I really dont know. The PSU that came with my case might be a lot nicer because I paid alot more for the case.

hmmm

Give that power supply that comes with it a chance.....might work just fine, just trial and error. My thought is it will probably work out just fine and you will save yourself some money
