Casemod to expose back of processor?

I have an issue on my hands.

I'm not particularly happy with my current CPU cooler, so I've opted to invest in an H110 modular liquid cooling unit. The problem is that while the processor is exposed in the back portion of the case, only the first two nuts/washers holding the CPU cooler in place are removable without disassembling the entire rig. Notice the blue sharpie.

I'd like to take a dremel and cut away the area marked in blue marker. I was wondering if anyone here could offer some input. Like, say, if this is a bad idea. Or if there are any precautions I should take, etc etc.

It's a fine idea. Just be sure to sand down the edge after you dremel it so you don't cut yourself.

And also I'd take your mobo out just to be safe.

Should I do anything to cover the exposed metal afterwards? Say, paint it with black nail polish (which I've read is non-conductive)? What about dust or shavings from the carved metal?

If you have a bottom mounted PSU I'd remove it. Just blow all the metal shavings out.

That's fine. Just get a cotton ball or some paper towel damp with the rubbing alcohol and just rub it off.

The cutting wheel will leave powdered residue of itself also.
An idea would be,
with motherboard removed put the case in a plastic bag and seal up the open end of the bag with tape. Then cut the plastic out from around the area to be dremeled and tape the edges down so that the only exposed part of the case is the motherboard tray where your going to cut it. Cut it and clean the mess before removing the plastic.
