Cases with water cooling

I need a case and a cooling system for my build. Il be using the x6800 processor, 2Gb of RAM, 1 150Gb WD Raptor and 1 120Gb Barracuda.

For cooling: If i use fans, how many do i need? Is water cooling a better idea for a high-end system?

Am i right in thinking this case comes with a water cooling supply already installed?

Case

Probably not.

But if yes, would it be any good?

I dont want to hijack the post.. but is watercooling also very maintenance intensive? ( been thinking about putting water cooling on my grafic's cards and CPU.. and maybe PSU )

No, it doesn't include a watercooling system, only retaining holes to make it easier to install one. The Thermaltake Armor LCS does include a watercooling system. It's a reasonably basic kit, however, designed for ease of installation rather than extreme performance.

There's no hard and fast rule as to what cooling you require. Overclocking is an important consideration. With an x6800, I imagine you are looking for some significant overclocks. A good watercooling kit is worth the money in this case.

ya dont buy a thousand dollar processor and go with an el cheapo water cooling system. if ur gonna get a water cooling system u should prob get a decent one not the cheapest u can find. and any case that comes with a water cooling setup with it for little over 100 bucks is more than likely gonna be a piece o crap. because that price alone is like a low end water cooling system. so a case n a water cooling system for around 100 bucks would be something to avoid in my opinion.

Ok thanks, i thot the combo idea would probably be rubbish.

Do i specifically need a water cooling system? Or can i just use fans?

From what I have heard watercooling is more expensive and you need to put in more work to it. If your a hardcore OCer I would suggest to go with water cooling but if your like me and dont even know how to OC:P I would suggest a couple 120mm fans for your CASE.

ya even the exteme core duo doesnt even run that hot so youd be good on fans...as long as you dont oc much...

does the extreme come with the same hsf as the rest of them??? if so you would do yourself good into looking into a good hsf. there are plenty of good ones out there, but i guess opinions differ on which one is the best.

I wouldn't be using the stock HSF with an x6800 if you're looking for a decent OC. Good air cooling will be fine, but good water is better still. It really depends on your OCing intentions and budget (although I get the feeling the latter won't be the problem).

Obviously watercooling will involve more effort as well, both in installation and maintenance.

What kind of maintenance is required and how difficult? Like re-filling?

I'm dont know how much, if at all OC'ing il be doing. I guess i could get some fans and if i choose to OC i could install a water cooling system.

Btw do the fans have to be anything special, and how many?

It doesn't sound like a watercooling system would suit you. I'd suggest a good air cooler, such as a Thermaltake Big Typhoon, coupled with a few decent case fans. The number/type of which does depend on the case you're getting.

Just to throw it out there, I used to own a watercooling system and while it was a nice expierence of owning one and a great project to work on I didn't get that better results over a quality heatsink and thermal paste. The watercooling kit i owned was this one. By the way there is really no maintence for a watercooling system other than adding a little water every now and then.

Ok, as iv said before... i got into this computer building as a project, ie. i dont know much about it. I appreciate sooooo much the knowledge people on this board have given me, but once again i need to ask for some help...

In the way of cooling, what do i need to know? ie. thermal grease, fans, heatsinks?

Im sorry for asking this, but i need to learn. I read the cases 101 which dandered a tad on cooling, but it didnt help greatly (well for cases it did, but cooling no).
