Cd burner doesn't burn things anymore! What should I do? Un/Reinstall drivers?

The details are:

I put in a CD-R into my laptop CD RW. (Fujifilm high quality).

It makes a few clicking noises (that it didn't make before I started having a problem)... reads it as "Blank CD"

So I try to burn the image with Alcohol, and when that fails "Burning process failed, call Tech Support" , so I try the same thing with a new CDR in Nero Burning ROM and it also fails.

The CDRs do not get "wasted" it doesn't even write a leading track.

I think the problem may have happened after I installed Daeomon's Tools for emulation. I have since uninstalled that, but my CD RW drive is not functioning.

I don't want to reformat. Which drivers do I need to un/reinstall in DEVICE MANAGER?

Thanks a lot (also propose other suggestions too! :-))

Find the website of the manufacturer of the CD burner. Download their latest drivers. Install those. Or you can delete the drivers and delete the hardware profile then reboot the computer. it should detect the CD burner and ask you to install the drivers. Don't forget to save the drivers to your hard-drive or floppy for future use. Other possiblity is the lens is dirty and needs to be cleaned. A dirty lens will not read nor write.
