With my Gateway laptop, in a fit of rage a younger member of my family threw the laptop to the ground, and 2 days afterwards (when I used the cd drive) it didn't work properly. Defining "work properly" every 1 minute or so it would need to stop for some time, and then 30 seconds later resume, along with making some noises I hadn't heard before. It was probably a bad idea but I tightened a few screws on the drive to see if it would work, and afterwards it seemed to do even worse, I did the same thing again except going to as many screws as I could see, and now it barely works at all! If anyone had good advice from experience or any knowledge on the subject I would greatly appreciate and would be very stress-relieving. Thank you.
