Hello all,
One of the two DVDRWs on my desktop went out recently, and I threw another one in there thinking it would be a quick fix. Well, my comp is not wanting to cooperate. Here's the scenario:
If just the one old drive that's still working is plugged in, it shows in my computer as drive D:
If I plug just the new one in, it shows in my computer as drive D:
If I plug both of them in, only the new one shows up as drive D:. While the comp is still on, if I unplug the new one, the old one takes priority and begins to function as drive D:
While both are plugged in, the old drive refuses to read any CDs or respond whatsoever. As soon as I unplug the new drive, the old one reads immediately.
I am at a loss here, I've tried getting the comp to recognize new hardware, update drivers, etc... to no avail. The new drive didn't come with an installation disk or anything because I scavenged it out of another tower I had sitting around.
I appreciate the help in advance.
