Every time I insert a CD/DVD in my CD/DVD Drive it start making a lot of noise. Then after some time it stops making noise and runs normally. g.e. when I insert a CD/DVD in order to play a game it start by making a lot of noise and then computer kind of freezes then after some time when it has kind of loaded what it should everything gets normal. What should I do in order to fix this? Would a new CD/DVD drive help?

I have got a shuttle, one of those small desktops.

What are the rest of your system specifications? It is "normal" to make a lot of noise, but to freeze the system...that's a different story.

Yeah but it does not just make noise it makes really a lot of noise, really irritating. And it kind of screws up everytime you insert a CD/DVD...

As Jet said what are your system spec. You might look and see if your drive is running in PIO mode instead of DMA or UDMA

My HP Writer Plus 8100 series makes a loud grinding noise when it reads disks. Will I have to replace it or can I fix it some how?
