CD key Problems

When I installed a certain game, I had it working for a long time until I traded games with a friend. I then tried to unistall the game using a different CD key and that was not a good idea. An error in the unistall screen said it couldn't find GameuxInstallHelper.dll and the game doesn't completely uninstall. I can't play unless it is uninstalled:mad:. What can I do?

Your problem is more than likely being caused because there is a leftover registry entry from the game that is messing with the installation. There are two options to fix this, either go into the registry and find this item and get rid of it, which I really strongly do not recommend; or reinstall Windows. The only other possible thing might be to get your original key from your friend... Sorry man, it's not an easy fix.

Thanks but im not sure what the registry is. How do I find the registry and delete the regitry entry? Is there a risk? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, if you don't know what the registry is, I wouldn't go messing around in there, if you move some stuff or delete the wrong thing, your entire computer might not boot. Best to try the other options I listed before.

So is there any way of protecting any important files and programs that my family has saved when reinstalling Windows or not beacause I tried getting the key and it had the exact same problem. Thanks
