CD-R will not read some discs

There could be something seriously wrong with my CD writer/reader. Its a good product that came with the tower but it just refuses to read some discs.

So can someone suggest a cd codec or program or something that will do. Some cd's it refuses to read such as some music cds, ps 1 games, etc.

Its practically brand new so could it just need a good cleaning possibly?
 
If its brand new, then it shouldn't be do it. It could be the brand of media used if its burnt copies or does it read cd's and not dvd's or vice versa?

Forum searched my model and theres a defect with the driver, I uninstalled it and then did a system restore, then bingo it started working like new. Yeah defect with the driver
