CD-ROM Problem

When I enter a CD to my CD-ROM drive
Stange sound is heard then is disappeared
What is the problem and how I recove it

how old is this drive and does it still read the disk?

its new and it reads disks normally but in the first, sound is heard

really isn't a joke, thats what heppenig with me!!
Maybe the unit is somehow damaged?

drives make whirring noises all the time, kinda has something to do with the fact that there's something inside spinning really fast, unless it's grinding or something, probably normal operation
