cd-rw chkdsk problem

Looking for help. Have copied data onto a newly-formatted CD-RW on a XP Home Laptop, but can't read programs such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint, because I get an error message advising me to run chkdsk as files are unreadable or corrupt. This only happens when I use CD-RW on Desktop running XP Home. It has worked fine on laptop and on other folks' PCs. Any advice much appreciated. Storing same programs onto USB Flashdrive caused no such problem. :confused:

Yep, Athlon 64 4000 with 1GB and DVD-ROM 16x and DVD-ROM 16x/CD_RW 52x32x52

Other programs work fine. Have burned loads of stuff, but can't transfer from laptop to PC via CD-RW. Help.
