CD-RW drive not working

I got this drive an installed it about 6 months ago and it was working fine, sometimes had some proublems but i only had to restart the comp and it worked. I was playing around with the bios and i might have deleted it, but i can't burn anything to cd's anymore. when i put in a blank cd-rw and try to access the disk it says "drive is not accessible", but when i put a disk in with stuff on it i can access it but i can't write anything to it.
 
Are you using the 'built in" Win XP burning software or a third party burning software like Nero or Roxio, etc.?
 
I've was orginially using the built in software, but since that no longer works i have tried various others but none work.
 
Right Click "My Computer" (desktop), then click on manage. Double Click on services and application, then click on services. On the right window find IMAPI CD-Burning Com Service, right click on it, then click on properties - is the start up type "disabled"? If in "disabled," change this to "manual." Close computer management and try again to burn a CD.
