Certain amount of times?

I am wondering if there is a certain number of times I could re-format my hard drive with the same XP disc/code? I thought I heard somewhere that you could do it 5 times then on the 6th time it wouldn't let you use the code. Is this true, or is the number different? Also I will be formating my Dell if that helps.
