Recently I have noticed I have trouble installing certain games via DVD media, they install really really slowly and produce paging errors in Event Viewer. The games are:
Borderlands
Battlefield 2: Bad Company
Devil May Cry 4
Notice that they are all Securom protected?
Borderlands will install after several attempts and I was able to install Battlefield once, after waiting forever. On all these disks Event Viewer reports paging errors. They have all installed ok in the past. Even when Devil May Cry 4 installs finally, I usually get Securom time out errors.
Things I have tried to fix issue:
Installed disks perfectly fine on my other PC and different DVD drive
Tried my other PC's dvd drive in my current machine, no luck, same issue
Tried a different SATA cable/connector (improved installation on Devil May Cry 4 slightly, but still slower than slow).
Fresh install of Windows
Interesting to note: Not all securom disks have this issue, Batman, Dirt 2 etc all install fine.
I am sure it has something to do with flakey Securom, as all other disks work absolutely fine, although not sure why the issue would suddenly occur now. I guess the solution is to give up on Securom disks all together. Its too hard to say when the issue first started occurring, any thoughts?
