Change in Bios disaster

Please help
Got this Celeron 800Mhz machine, upgraded ram from 256 to 512 but when I booted up it would only show 260Meg of Ram, tried various things no joy, then I had the great idea of poking about in the bios. Opps, changed a setting that made some reference to ram and now I can get nothing out of the machine. It sounds like it spins up ok, but no output on monitor. I took the cmos battery out for 10 seconds and replace it still no joy, any help would be warmly received, just getting back into the bios would be good

Clearing the CMOS should reset anything that was changed from default, but you may not have removed the battery for enough time before replacement. The best and quickest way to clear the CMOS is using the jumper on the motherboard.
 
Yea they both work ok
if i put them in another machine they total 512
also when I put other simms in the original comuter (128Megs) they = 256 so both slots seem to be functioning ok
