Change my IP address on a college network?

How can I do it? I tried disabling my NIC and enabling it....I tried releasing and renewing...any suggestions?

The IP will be assigned by DHCP depending on your MAC (hardware) address. This may be possible to change. Check bios/drivers

I see what you're saying. A different NIC would change the IP. Although I don't have another one lying around but I do have a wireless card so I'll do that and post the results...

you can actually edit the MAC using software sometimes

and yeah it works

i set up my network so my pcs always get the same IP adresses, but still using DHCP. this is handy for setting up game server and stuff . For this i used the MAC address to uniquely identify each PC.
