Changed DNS Server 2nd Laptop not Connecting

I have recently change DNS from my local Serv Provider (connect Automatically) to Google DNS 8. 8. 8. 8. Because it is more responsive, now a 2nd Laptop will not connect to the network, diagnosis tell me there is something wrong with the router, but the 1st laptop is working OK.
Can changing the laptop DNS stop the 2nd laptop from working?
Both laptop are working wireless to the router OK

I should add that the 2nd laptop has not been used for a few months, but was working OK

If you enter 74.125.228.113 on the address bar or the laptop that is not working, doe sit take you anywhere (Google.ca)? If so, it's a DNS problem. If not, you've got some other issue that you'll have to troubleshoot.

Their load balancer might mess it up, to be sure, do a lookup for the ip you are getting and try to connect to that.

Sorry I do not understand most of that, what is the load balance?
As it says the router is not connected on the 2nd laptop, entering a IP address cannot work. The 1st laptop shows the router as working OK
They were both working previously, the only thing I have changed is the DNS on the 1st laptop, has this any relations to the problem? should I change it back to Automatically find DNS?

I would say try the laptop that doesn't work somewhere else like a wifi hotspot and see if it can connect. If it can't, then you know there is something wrong with the laptop or wireless card. Which is what I suspect. Every machine can use different dns servers.

A load balancer is something on the server side. When you enter www.google.com you end up at a different physical box than when I enter it. That is the load balancer at work.

The short of it is, changing the DNS on laptop 1 doesn't affect laptop 2 in any way.

Are both laptops connecting wirelessly? I think john is correct in that something on laptop 2 isn't working but the system saying it can't reach the internet may be trying to use a domain name and if DNS is screwed up on laptop 2 that could explain it.

Thanks all, I think it is a matter of elimination, the wireless card must be OK because it is talking to the router OK. but not the internet.

OK, do this then. What operating system are you running? You can try deleting the wireless connection for your router and set it back up again, usually this fixes it.

I have notice that the DNS setting always defaults now to connect Automatically and if I set up a different DNS it does not save even if I am clicking on OK
