Changed GPU settings, now sudden flashes of black on display

You wont get any significant improvement beyond heat and issues by overclocking the memory in real world gaming. Even then, overclocking the core may help, but not by anything more than 10FPS which, yes, if you're getting 30FPS may be worth it.

In conjunction with my CPU overclock, in gaming benchmarks I saw a 20% improvement over stock. 20% could make quite a big difference to some.

Yes, and what is 10FPS as an increase to 40FPS vs 30FPS? You're quoting me and then saying the exact same thing.

I'm just backing it up with some actual data, and not throwing out a random FPS increase.

Ladies ladies... Overclocking can do quite a bit when it comes to single card performance.

I may not be the most intelligent but 10FPS can be a lot when you don't get 100+ frames on AAA titles..

My 280X runs much better overclocked on Hitman Absolution than at stock speeds..

10FPS may be a lot if you only get 30, but if you get 200 10 is nothing. Hence why I said 20% in my experience.
