Changes to OS for SSD

Okay, I'm working in my first build. I want to install an SSD. I've read in a book on PC builds that changes need to be made to the operating system's default settings in order to get and maintain the best performance from the SSD. What kind of changes is this book talking about?

Thanks.

What specific changes is the book referring to?

7/8/10 already have suitable optimizations for SSD.

Probably stuff like reducing page file, turning indexing service off, disabling the defragmenter, etc.

Basically stuff that does extra I/O on the SSD without any need or performance gain in doing so, as unlike a HDD, a SSD will last for only so many reads and writes, so the longer you take to reach that limit, the longer the drive lasts I guess.

It really didn't say what changes, it just said changes. But since I'm going to install 10, it'll probably cover it. I think your two answers will cover it. Thank you.
