Changing BIOS Settings

I just completed my first build (:D) and need to go into the BIOS to make the necessary adjustments. Is there a guide I can use or can anyone help me NOT make a crucial mistake? Thanks
 
Congrats!

your mobo should be smart enough to detect all hardware and load the most stable settings on its own.

everything else is user specific and depends on your level of customization.

some things to look out for:

set sata drives to ahci instead of ide emulation.
boot order, set to hdd first, unless you want to bood from cd/dvd.

for everything else, you can post a list of parts and maybe somebody can give you some clocking tips.

As others have said it should come up with a default configuration. The other thing you can do is to read the manual. They usually explain the BIOS functions pretty well.
