changing computer name

Hello dear forum dwellers,
I have got a question about changing the computer name and the results it will cause, what I would like to know is if I change the name would it affect other user accounts and all the rights predefined? would it change any folders? actually if it is possible could you please describe what actual changes does it cause when you change the computer name...hope I described it well, but if the question is still obscure) please let me know and I will try to add more clarity.

no, the only time it would matter is if you were running DNS, you can change the computer name to whatever you want
 
right clik on my computer > properties > Computer Name > Change > Here u can the computer name.

as told above its only for networking purpose other than that it does not mean anything u can change whenever and how many times also.
 
something else. it don't do nothing or change like mentioned. if you have several computer in the home and net worked it makes a diff. i have one called granddaughter, mine is grandpa, wife is grandma. if your sharing its convenient to know which computer your looking. maybe you want to upload a program or backup a hard drive. ya need to know which one your looking at. even have one called garage. thats where its at. another called Asus Eee. i know what it is.
