I've downloaded a patch for a game (FEAR) and the patch is hardcoded to dl to the C drive. My problem is that my hard drive is not C it is I, my C has been issued to some removable disk I don't use. Is there a way that I can switch the two? Thank you guys in advance. I am using xp home.

First you need a Welcome to the Computer Forum! http://www.computerforum.com/70672-official-welcome-thread.html and the reminder given to new member to review the http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

When you are in Windows the drive should still be seen as C even if you have XP installed on a second ide or even sata drive. Windows still sees itself on the C there. Drive letters for drives other then the C can be changed easy enough using the Disk Management tool found in "Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Storage" all in one sentence there.

When you get to and open the Storage like seen in the image here http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6146/computermanagementll6.jpg you double click on that(seen in top right) to open up the Disk Management tool seen in better detail in the next image. You simply right click on a drive and choose the change drive letter option for the small window seen there. http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2576/diskmanagementez7.jpg

That will be the easy part except on the system here where multiple versions of Windows see each other drive as a different drive other then C. The capture here shows the XP Home drive as the F drive and how to see that changed to a different even while there are 5 other drives HDs and optical drives alike installed.

Glad to see you got that on ok! That still sounds odd however since XP should still the single hard drive there when loaded as the C drive automatically. How was XP installed by a custom or standard installation there? Despite multiple drives here or the version running it will always see itself as C while the other see it as G or F.
