Changing from Windows to Linux [YaY!]

I currently am using Windows XP SP2.. Im tired of this unstable junk so I'm switching over to linux. I would like to know whats the best version of Linux which is user friendly and easy to use. I know the basics of Linux. I just need a good Linux distribution.

Ubuntu is great... but dual booting isnt that bad. And SP2 isnt that unstable...

It's not that unstable but if you compare the resources Windows takes up and the ones Linux takes up.. I prefer Linux. Microsoft has so many useless resources that hog up your computer..
