Changing hard disk with OS, but PCI Device Listing freeze...

Hello all,
I have two old (approx. 5years) computers, and I need to swap Hard Disks. Both HDD have operation system.
But does not work. One HDD can go to Windows on both computers, another HDD not.
When I connect HDD on another PC, boot freezed at Pci Device listing...

This HDD is has an important application, and I dont want to loose informations...

Anyone with experience...??

If you are swapping hard drives from computer to computer, you can't do that, as hardware between motherboards is all different and will cause issues.

Yes it can be done without re-installing the OP system. However you are going to have to do a little research on what is contained in the system that you are swapping to. This means stuff like which MB is in there, its specifications, chipsets and so forth. Then when you have all that information you are going to need to do some prep work on the drive you want to swap in. This will involve changing the device drivers for the MB to generic drivers.

Before you do this it would be helpful if I knew what the model numbers or MBs are that you dealing with, the operating systems on both and any other technical information you can provide.

Be sure you have the COA keys available or extract them BEFORE you do anything.

NOTE: If these are OEM prebuilt machines, technically, according to the EULA, you are not supposed to do this. However if the systems are not too terribly different MS isn't going to bitch about it to much and will accept the new activation (yes you will have to go through that mess). If the OP system is retail there isn't a problem. Also note that whatever procedure I come up with for you, it isn't going to be 100% guaranteed to work.
 
ok, I was thinking. If adding another HDD with OS already installed on it, of course there are different hardware equipment with different drivers (motherboard,etc...).

Maybe if I try with CD-WinXp repairs current operation system?
 
It always best to do a fresh install, I don't care what other people say about uninstalling old drivers first. If its my system, I want it to run properly the first time so I would do a fresh install no matter what.
