So I'm upgrading m comp (see this thread: http://www.computerforum.com/119600-upgrade.html) and am getting a new HDD.
Last time I built a rig, my HDD had cr@pped out on me, so I didn't really need to transfer files.
So, I want to get everything up and running with a minimum of fuss, so my plan is to:1) install new HDD and OS, 2) Update OS and install software to the new HDD, etc. then 3) Put old HDD in as a second (slave) drive and transfer files from there.
What I really want to do is transfer most of the files from the second drive, then erase most of the files use it as a song and pic drive.
My question: Is this going to cause problems with the OS being on 2 HDDs at once? I can adjust the boot sequence so that the new drive is bootable and the second is not correct?
If my plan is bad (which it may well be), I am open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Peter
