I've had the same problem with XP and now Vista. The instructions with Windows don't work. I use Windows Explorer to save and copy and move files and it always flips back to icons or small icons when I've already told it to display as a list so I can see everything without scrolling. My brain doesn't comprehend icons and my hand hurts from too much scrolling. Also someone down at microsoft detects if there are too many pictures in a folder and changes what details are shown to irrelevant things I don't want to know. If I say "list" then I want to see a list of files till I say otherwise, not thumbnails or incomprehensible "small icons" that read across instead of down in columns, it's mind numbing. If I say "details", same story. Why does Windows torture me with annoying "options" when I've already made my choices?
