Changing IP

I have Bellsouth DSL and I think I have a static IP..but im not sure...I want to change my ip...not my lan ip..but my regular ip...how do i go about doing that?
 
The only way I know how to change an IP, I think this changes the IP is by:

Start
Control Panel
Network Connections
Right Click on your connection>properties
Under This connection uses the following items
Click on it and go to properties
Select: Use the Following IP Address
 
I tried that..doesnt work..how cna i find out the range of which i can set my ip to? i tried the last digit one less and one above...they both dont work
 
If you've had the same IP for a while, it's most likely Dynamic (I think), and if you need to change it you would have to contact your ISP.
 
ok well the reason im asking is because I played CS Source and my steam id got banned from all servers...my brother had a different steam id that he cud play with on anothe rocmputer on a network ..but i asked him if i cud use his steam id to play...and when i did shortly after his steam id was banned from all servers too...so im about to get a new steam id and i wana make sure it doesnt get banned again because of maybe same ip or something so i wanted to change my ip just incase...does steam compare ips to ids? or watever? can ne one explain what happened in my situation?
 
Disable DHCP. Right click "my network places" then right click your connection, then click properties, then go into the tcp/ip settings, uncheck the DHCP and configure a working IP, SM, and Gate...oh and the DNS servers help too
