Changing Operating System

I use My Computer primarily for the Microsoft Flight Simulator. I currently have Windows 8 , but would like to change it to Windows 7 , because Windows 7 is more compatible. I have Windows 7 on my shelve but can't remember if it has been used.If it has been used, then it's no good. Two questions ; First Is there an easy way to tell if it's good. Second, how difficult is it to change operating systems. I only have a basic knowledge of computers. My Computer is a HP. Thanks

Since you're a bit unsure, unless there is something wrong with 8 I'd just leave it. Windows 7 is no more 'compatible' than 8 is.

If you do want to put 7 on, what you need to do is back up all of your data, put the Windows 7 DVD in your PC and reboot with the DVD still in the drive. Then when the computer reboots you'll see a message saying 'Press any key to boot from CD/DVD'. Press a key and follow the instructions.

Note: you may need to go into your BIOS and enable the DVD drive as the first boot device if you don't see the 'Press any key to boot from CD/DVD' message.

I don't think I can use the Windows 7 disc. more than once. I can't rember if it's been use. Would it tell me from the start if it's ok to use?

after the install you will have to verify on line with microsoft. You likely could call support at microsoft and ask about the key. They will know.

I would just install it and if you can activate it online, great. If not, use the telephone activation and you'll get it activated. ;)
