Changing Router????????????

Hi, this might be a stupid question but here goes ... I have the most basic wired internet router, i want to upgrade to a more modern router with ethernet ports so i can have a wired connection to my ps3. So do I have to inform my internet provider to tell them im changing my router even though im keeping my wired connection?????

No, a router provides certain standardized networking services, your ISP doesn't care which brand you use.
 
Does your broadband connection require authentication, like PPPoE or anything like that?

If you have a standard cable connection you should technically be able to plug the router right in and it should just work. You'll need to log into your router to configure wireless and security though.
 
As far as I know it is just a basic wired broadband connection. I dont want to change to wireless i just want to upgrade my router and keep my normal wired connection.
