Changing windows desktop theme

Hi all!

I'm having trouble changing my windows desktop theme. I have tried it on two different computer using windows xp. Wallpaper and icons are changed, but windows and taskbar return to classic windows look and I can't change them back to windows xp look or any other, as if they are locked to classic windows. How can I have my windows xp look again (or any other look). I have used bricopack in one computer and object desktop on the other with this same result. Unistalling them doesn't work. Any tips?

thanks

right click your my computer then properties or simply press window+pause then on advanced tab click settings on the performance. under visual effects tab in performance options choose "let windows choose what's best for my computer" then click apply then ok. make sure you have uninstalled bricopack before doing this.

The problem is that this option is already selected. I have unistalled all the pack and this option was selected. I've then tried to install it again to see if it would override the classic look.
The fact is that I'm stucked with the classic windows look. In Bricopack documentation they say that one can try to manually patch the uxtheme.dll. I've tried it, but the classic visual for windows and taskbar is still there. And I hate this classic look... HELP, PLEASE!!!

No, it doesn't. I can select another theme, but after the delay, the look is the same.

My windows version is 2002 with service pack 2. Yes, I do have windows blind installed.
The programs windows, bars and dialog windows are changed, but the system windows and taskbar remains with the classic style.
At first I thought it could be a problem of compatibility, but what is weird is that after uninstalling, I'm not able to come back to XP look... so I'm stucked with the horrible classic look. (not that the XP look is great, but the classic one...)

Try selecting a/the theme from windowblinds and apply it. If that doesn't work, than uninstall WindowBlinds and the windows default theme engine will not create any more conflicts.

I have already applied the theme from windowblinds; windows and taskbar continue unchanged. I have uninstalled and can't get the xp look back again. I thought it would be a more usual problem, since it happened in two different computers. If that is rare, I really had bad luck.
