hello.. im new here.. im new too in computer.. i just wanna ask can i change my windows 98 to windows XP?? if can, how??

Hey

Yes you can. However, Windows XP is more resource hungry meaning that you will need about 256MB of RAM and approximately 3GB of HDD space. As well as that a processor above 500Mhz is advisable for some decent performance. Also make sure that you can get drivers for the components and devices attached (scanners, printers, you name it). Good luck. I have had Windows XP Pro installed on a machine which had a PII 250MHz,128MB of RAM and a very bad graphics card. It all worked fine as long as the startup items were kept at bay.

You only need 3GB to install windows, but if you want any programs on it, then you should have at least a 10GB hard drive.

Basically you need a windows XP installation CD, this you will need to buy from say PC WORLD or www.ebuyer.com. If you buy the retail version of it then it will ahve all ibnstructions you could ever need, basically you just pop the Cd in follow the instructions on screen and away you go, its like installing a new program but just a little bit bigger (well, actually its a lot bigger but nevermind).

Try it, just MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP ALL DATA BEFORE DOING THIS. If it goes wrong, then you just format and start again, you cant seriously harm the PC when installing a new OS. (in your case WinXP)
