Cheap build, APU vs CPU discrete gpu

Okay I pretty much know the answer already, I think.. I was thinking at first of going the apu route (a8-7600) with some fast memory since apu's like that. But would I be better off saving and extra 40 or so bucks and getting the Intel G3258 dual core and something like the equiv. graphics of the APU, R7 240/250? What do you think the performance boost would be like in comparison? Would I be losing anything going from the quad core apu to the dual core? The Intel chip is faster on cpu things. Thanks

*edit* This would be for gaming. Just a budget build to start off.

If you are going to APU route I would recommend Intel's latest processors, either Bloomfield or Skylake as they have much higher APU performance than previous Intel's and current AMD's offerings. However, they are no match for a dedicated card. If it comes down to getting an i5 and using the APU or a low end AMD/Intel CPU, personally I would choose the higher end Intel processor and use the APU until you can afford a decent video card.

Intel's IGP doesn't beat AMD APU. Even like a i5 6600K loses to a A10 7850K. The A10 7850K is only 130 bucks. But saying that I would only get the AMD if your never going to buy a video card.

Yes after more and more reading, for about 40-50 bucks more I think I am going for a cpu and discrete gpu. The Intel G3258 paired with a 750 ti. Every video and review I have read, shows this little 70 dollar chip smoking almost any AMD cpu, with a discrete card. Also is the fact that this cpu can be overclocked to the moon. Thanks for all of the replies!

Skylake i3's should be hitting Q3'15 (soon!) with Intel HD 530, which should be comparable to HD 7660D (from A10 APUs).
Would be able to play most games at medium or low settings, but would set you up for being able to buy a GPU in the future.
