Cheap HTPC idea

My dad is interested in having a little HTPC down with our den. I've thrown some ideas together but I figured I'd run it by you guys and see what you think.

Basically, it's going to be used to play back various videos such as things from Netflix, Hulu, DVDs, avi's (and the like) and should be capable of blu-ray for later on... It has to have SVHS out, though VGA/DVI/HDMI will probably also be used.

So any obvious problems with the build? Also, anyone know if that CPU will work with that board (at least after a bios flash if available)

It does have a CPU and 25GB of SSD built in. However, external hdd and optical drive solves the issue. lack of SVHS? the keyboard has a vga output so an analog convertor to SVHS is possible.

Price however is quite high because of wireless HDMI, it'll go down when the hype comes down. The thing's new, what did you expect the price to be set to?
 
Intel_man - SVHS through VGA is not possible without external converters with completely ruin any quality that's there. External drives defeats the purpose of the system being small, compact, and integrated. The atom is not capable of most HD videos. And you apparently didn't read the first word in the subject; Cheap.

daisymtc - I considered a bluray rom, perhaps even the combo. However, dad's pretty content using DVDs and SD stuff (hence the SVHS requirement). As for sound through HDMI, many Nvidia cards do support that too (given the SPDIF cable). However, we'd probably still use RCA regardless seeing as the receiver he uses doesn't support HDMI. Heck it probably doesn't even have any digital inputs :P I think VGA would suffice for the time being. The TV's only 720p anyways. Plus those cards you added didn't have SVHS which is still needed. But trust me, if I were building this for myself, I'd probably end up with some Radeon.

Parts ordered. I'll probably make another post regarding the build once it's done. Should be a pretty fair computer though; I hear that E3300 is quite the budget processor.

Oh, 2 changes to the above build. I switched to a Hitachi HD(personal preference and better reviews) and an ECS video card (the other sold out). I'm just still keeping my fingers crossed there won't be any issues with the mobo and CPU :P
