cheap laptop

I am looking for a cheap laptop manufacturer. All I really want to do on my laptop is use the internet to go on msn, post on forums, and watch some videos. And possibly put my music on to listen to. I really think I'd only need a single core processor like a pentium 4, core duo, amd semphron, or a low end dual core. 1GB of ram should would, and like an 80GB hard drive would be fine. And I'd like a 15.4" screen.

I was thinking of an eeepc, but they have tiny hard drives and are expensive for what you get since they used SSD, which is stupid.

I was thinking of something at a max of about $500 if I have to pay it all at once, or something around $800 - $1000 if I can make payments on it.

EDIT: I found this HP CQ50Z All I did was upgrade the cpu to a dual core. It's about $460.

Here are the important specs:

OS: Windows Vista Basic (will be installing linux over it)
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 1.9Ghz
Display: 15.4" WXGA
RAM: 1G DDR2 (I'll probably buy another GB of RAM elsewhere if it's cheaper)
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 8200M G
Hard Drive: 120GB 5400RPM
Drive: 8x DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer Support
Battery: 6 Cell Lithium Ion

I don't really want a lot. I think I'm getting a lot from compaq. A single core laptop at decent speed with 1GB of DDR2 RAM and something like an 80GB hard drive would work for me really.

A friend showed me this Toshiba. It has a Core 2 Duo at 1.86ghz and a 160GB hard drive. I know Core 2 Duos beat out AMD's dual cores. I think I might get it as it's only $50 more.

Kewl Munky - That one looks good, probably a better one out there...... Sir Travis D will find you a good one, or PHATSPEED7x

I'm thinking I might not go with that HP that has that AMD since they suck a lot of power, and have a lot of heat.

And I'll consider that laptop skyliner.
