Cheap reliable build?

I want a smaller computer for to run a program called serato. It basically lets you use hardware to DJ from the computer. People have ran it with as little as 400 mhz processor speed and a small amount of ram. So I don't need a great computer for it.

Would this be a reliable build or should I get some other parts? I did't put a video or sound card on it because I will only be running this one program on the computer (and the program has an external sound card that comes with it).

Only thing I can see is upgrading the power supply, it's a little small.

You realize you have a Socket 775 MoBo/CPU and an AMD HSF, right? Otherwise, not my choice of items, but swap out that HSF and I see no issues with what you chose.

That looks legit, I'd probably find a case that's a little smaller. I'd still have to buy the operating system but I should be ableto squeeze that in my budget.

i'll go with that bare bone and pick up an xp disk probably. Still won't pick up vista for a little while...

GA-EG31M-S2

Same thing as Daisy posted; it's just got an updated BIOS, is $3 cheaper, and comes with the energy saving software (that you don't have to install if you don't want).

Antec Basiq 350

Your system will never use over 100W, but this is dirt cheap from a reliable brand name.

Cooler Master Elite 340

mATX version of the case daisy posted. Smaller and $5 cheaper.

That's about $110 for case, power supply, and motherboard before shipping, so a little more than the bare bones, but if you're looking for reliability I'd say it's worth it to avoid that crappy MSI motherboard they evidently can't get rid of and a generic case-bundled PSU.

As for the rest of the stuff:

80GB Caviar SE for $40

2x1GB Corsair Value Select for $40 (unless you need some GAIEMN HEATSPREADARZ)

E2180 for $70

And whatever optical drive you want, 30 bucks for that. Windows XP Home 32-bit OEM on Newegg is $85. So looks like roughly $375 including OS before shipping and probably under $400 shipped. There you go.

It does seem like a little much but if the program ever starts to go fully vista i'd like to be prepared. or if some "better program" comes along I might need a better system
