Cheapest Windows OS?

That's right.

All you have to do is boot from the CD, not enter a CD key when it asks you to (make sure you select which version of upgrade they gave you. that would be ultimate) and then activate with the key once it's installed.

So I don't even need a product key to install Windows 7? Is there a "trial" period they give you before you have to put in a key? Also the article says that it should work for most systems. What are the odds of it not working?

Very interesting stuff!

It gives you a trial,i think its 30 days or something like that....but when you put your Product key in it should activate.

The odds of it not working?Im pretty sure it will ;)

Hey Cmschlatt,

I want to buy a Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Disk for $15. Is there anyway I can contact you by e-mail and arrange to make the $15 payment plus shipping and handling costs?

Find a garbage computer that had XP on it, take the sticker, download an XP re-install and use that serial, then upgrade.
Or you can fiddle around with the Win7 upgrade, but if you want to stay legit all the way use and old XP licence.

I looked into the deal. If you want a Windows 7 upgrade disk it ends up being $43. I don't know if I am going to jump on this one because Windows Vista 32-bit Service Pack 2 seems to be working alright for me presently.

I don't really like upgrade disks either. If it was around $25 or less I probably would have bought it. Thanks for information though.

I would actually be interested in that as well. Can the upgrade disc be used on more one computer?

EDIT- Nevermind, just saw the second page.

for $15?? really?? i have to question that. why? win 7 ultimate is $400 odd bucks on its own. as if bill gates would reduce the price to $15 for school kids. I DOUBT IT.

Don't know if they still are, but MS was selling the full retail version of both HP and Pro for $30. This was back during the initial $30 student deal on Digital River. I got pro. :D

It isn't/wasn't advertised for obvious reasons, and you order directly from the MS store by phone. (you have to mention it) I'm assuming they did it so that people who were building their computers could get in on the student deals.
