I am building a new desktop to replace my present aging one. I don’t game, however I may get into that. I run FSX flight simulator. I have put together a list of the best components that I can afford. Please check this out and let me know if there are any changes that I should make.

Fractual Design R4 Mid Case
Intel Core i5-4690K CPU
Asus Z97-A-ATX DDR3 Mo Board
eVGA GeForce 960 SC GPU
Corsair Vengence 8GB DDR3 Ram
Corsair Hi00i Cooling
Hatachi DeskStar 3.5 TB HardDrive
W.D. Velociraptor 500 MB Hardrive (for FSX)
EVGA SuperNova 1000 W Power supply
Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Optical

Get an SSD for FSX. Those high speed HDD's aren't worth it and SSD's are just getting cheaper and cheaper. The rest looks good, although I wouldn't suggested a Hitachi drive personally. More RAM might not be a terrible idea but I don't know what RAM utilization is like on FSX.

I appreciate the advice and I will certainly consider it. However I have been running a smaller capaity Velociraptor that has been running flawlessly for over 7 years.

Sure it might work but that's like saying a Corolla works when you could be driving a Ferrari. How much space do you need for FSX. I know some people load it up with mods.

I'm sorry - typo. It is a Hitachi DeskStar 2 TB 3.5" drive. The reason that I chose this is from a review from one of the NAS cloud companies that posted the results from the records that they kept on from the thousands of hard drives that they use and they recommended the Hitachi drives.
I have always been told that FSX should be kept on a separate drive, by its self. And that the drive should not exceed 65% capacity. The Velociraptor that I use has a 139 GB capacity and FSX is 90 GB which is ab out 65%.
Now this question: I make timely and full backups to an external HDD. If I were to get a SSD, what difficulties would I have in copying a clone of my present drive to the SSD? Also I have heard of people transferring their cloned backup to the"C" drive and that Windows 7 would work after a change was made in the assigned letter. I would hope that this is true. Have you had experience with that? Thanks for the extra trouble.
