checking files for viruses

my old laptop caught a virus or something, bought a new laptop and want to transfer all my old pics, and music off of my first one to my new one but am scared to incase of transfering the virus. my question is, is there anyway to check my old pics and my music to see if they are infested with a virus. the only way i can transfer is through a cable because my cd rom drive dont work on my first computer

The only way of checking for virus infection is, of course, virus scanning by a good anti virus.

Data files such as pictures and mp3s are usually safe from virus', you should have no problem with the transfer. However, you can download a good fre antivirus called Avira from www.avira.com/

if the system is vulnerable also pictures can infect the computer...
